I've been snorting heroin for awhile now (about a year), and I have two questions.

1. at this point, when i do it, it doesn't burn or anything. is this just because i've pretty much paved the way by deviating my septum or something similar?

2. every time I snort I end up with a serious lung infection like bronchitis or pneumonia. am I doing it wrong? I still get high and everything, it just sucks because I end up needing antibiotics or steroids every month or so.

Please, I do not need people telling me drugs are bad. I know. My life sucks, I've gone through several programs, it just doesn't work at this point. I'd really rather figure out how to do it as safe as possible.
Additional Details
no, i'm not being hypocritical....i have medical, legal, famial, etc. issues constantly. The problem is the addiction has a strong hold on me and despite several stints in treatment, I haven't been able to string together any significant amount of clean time together.

jesus.
HUGS, NOT DRUGS

Why not try smoking it or shooting it? It sounds like snorting is not agreeing with you too well. And are you smoking enough cigarettes?

Visit the site below and it will tell you what you're doing wrong.

You're being hypocritical saying, "I do not need people telling me drugs are bad." and before that say "every time I snort I end up with a serious lung infection like bronchitis or pneumonia.. am i doing it wrong?"

The reason people tell you its bad its not just oh you're rebellious that's wrong, it's the effects it has on your insides and the fact that it is killing you. Pneumonia leads to death. Just like smoking cause emphysema. Alcohol can cause liver and kidney problems while being extremely overweight can be bad for your heart.

Antibiotics build up your immune system so therefore wouldn't you think that the heroin is doing the opposite. It is supposed to make you feel good but that doesn't mean its good for you.

Go to a doctor and ask them about the repercussions.

Only a heroin addict will tell you there's nothing wrong.

1 yes, just like coke
#2 when you get high your body overproduces all the neurotransmitters in your brain and keeps you that way for a while (like an adrenalin rush) afterwards your body is in a state of weakness and doesn't have the ability to protect itself from infection (bc you used it all up during the high) now infections set in from anywhere and you cant defend yourself so your body gets sick.
then the whole process starts over again.

hope i helped.

1. Yes, that would be my hypothesis.
2. I have no idea why that would be happening, I have 2 suggestions. Either start smoking it (much safer and harder to OD anyway) but that would most likely cause MORE bronchitis and such, or switch to pills and swallow them.

Drugs aren't bad, they are just tools that can either help us or hurt us, depending on how we use them. It seems the way you are using them, they are hurting you. You might want to try subox treatment. I'm not telling you to do anything (I've been through that and I know how annoying it is), I'm just making a suggestion.

Narcotics Anonymous and new friends will help you get off the heroin.
The reason "it" isn't working is because you haven't taken responsibility for your problem. A program will only work if you work IT.
You are committing insidious suicide by continuing this unbelieveably self-destructive behavior.
My bet is that you no longer HAVE a functioning septum; it probably has a pretty big hole in it by now. You have killed all the sensory nerves in your nose, and are rotting your blood vessels. Your lungs are already falling apart.
Oh, yeah; a deviated septum is due to a structural problem, such as having been born with it or having sustained an injury to the nose (as in a broken nose). It doesn't happen because of drug abuse.
