Lucy	try to dig a whole in the pear, and put some sugar inside, better sugar from sugar cane. them put them into the pot, be steamed inside, then drink the soup inside the pear, will be too sweet , but it is good for ur throat...and drink more ginger water , that helps~~gute besserung~~

prncessang228	prolonged coughing should be evaluated by a dr. you could have an underlying disease or illness that is causing this. the other thing that comes to mind is seasonal allergies. lots of people who have allergies have trouble with not only sneezing and runny noses during allergy season but coughing as well. a once a day allergy pill can alleviate this problem no one on here can give you an accurate answer w/out seeing you in person. call your dr and make an appt to be tested for allergies and have an exam done to make sure it's not something more serious. in the meantime-you can try taking an over the counter allergy medication (claritin works good and is available over the counter for about 15 bucks for 12 pills) good luck to you
