Your teacher has probably seen a lot of fake laryngitis. You are not the first person with stage fright. Many professionals still have it after years of performing.

The best thing to do is face it head on. No one has ever died from it. But in case you do, I will deny that I ever wrote this.

Good luck.

c'mon have some guts. Get up there. If I did it you can do it. really, how long is it gonna last? The worst thing that could happen is you laugh about it 20 yrs from now. big friggin deal. what would happen if you could never live it down? You'll always ask yourself "what if I had gotten up there and did it?" You'll drive yourself nuts. This is part of life, and you only get one. Do a little checking on the singer from Heart (rock band). That might help change your mind.

Well, I wouldn't want laryngitis. I'd rather have something a little more temporary. Just say you feel like you're coming down with Strep. And it would be best not to inflame the vocal region, which in turn could increase the risk of contraction. Not to mention its contagious. lol. Its a nerdy excuse. But its better than ACTUALLY harming your body.
