im sick too. i was coughing up green mucus too. its normal. some people get chest colds. i did. i could feel it in my chest when i coughed, u should go get congestion medicine. it might help.
Any mucous or phlegm that you cough up that is yellow, green or blood tinged is serious. It could mean that you have pneumonia. Go see the doctor!
I have been told that this is a sign of infection. Check with you Dr
Green phlegm usually means infection. Was your blood work done? Was your white count high? You may have an upper respiratory infection as well as the flu, which would require antibiotics. Ask for something for the cough, too. Tessalon Pearles work great every 4 hours.
Hope you feel better soon!
You could have a secondary bacterial infection, green=infection. You probably have a upper respiratory infection on top of the flu virus. You most likely need a z pack or levaquin(antibiotics) to prevent a bronchitis-inflammation in lungs from all the coughing or a pneumonia.
Sounds exactly like what I have been suffering with after I had the flu - BRONCHITIS. You can get bronchitis following a flu/common cold because your immune system is already weak.
Acute bronchitis is responsible for the hacking cough and phlegm production that sometimes accompany an upper respiratory infection. Acute bronchitis is generally caused by lung infections; approximately 90% of these infections are viral in origin, 10% bacterial. So anitbiotics won't help in most cases.
It's pure torture - I've been coughing almost nonstop for 5 days. Mine is viral so there's really nothing I can do but rest and drink hot liquid. The doctor gave me cough syrup to take at night (codeine and promethazine) to help me sleep.
that is not normall.
I suggest going to the doctor.
I had the same problem a couple of weeks ago and when I went the doctor told me that I had a sinus infection as well. Go to your doctor as soon as possible to get treatment and get better. Trust me, you don't want to wait too long.
green mucus is really bad. it's doctor worthy
"A cough with phlegm is a common symptom of pneumonia. Bacterial pneumonia involves a cough that usually produces rust-colored or greenish mucus. Viral pneumonia often produces a dry cough at the beginning, which usually becomes worse and produces a small amount of mucus."
You need to see the doc again before it gets worse. Sorry, I hope you feel better soon.
