ask your teacher for the online books, or scan your books into a little hand held so your backpack won't be so filled

ok heres what i did. get your parents to write you a note to your directer, homeroom, high position of power person etc. in your school asking if you could maybe borrow two sets of books and leave one copy of all of the books at your house. then you will only have to cary around your planner and textbooks. it worked for me :D thanks :D

Instead of taking home all your binders, get a folder where you can put all the sheets you will need for your homework.
And in between classes, make a very QUICK trip to your locker and do not socialize with anyone if you are woried about being late for class.

I got my son's school to issue him 2 books for every class - one set stays home all the time and the other at school. He just gets a few out of his locker as needed.
I didn't have to beg or threaten or anything. I just talked with the guidance counselor privately and told them that it was causing medical problems - which it was (too long of a story to go into here).
Anyway, it couldn't hurt to ask - and be private about it. They can't give everybody extra books.
P.S. One of the local school systems has a classroom set of books for each teacher and issues kids books for home. No one has to haul books back and forth. Ultimately the system saves money because less books get lost, damaged, etc. Wish every system would do it.

I got to the point where I just took the bare minimum of what I needed to each class with me to school. Just a few sheets of paper for notes, leave books I probably won't need, took out all the unnecessary crap that loaded it down (extra books, pens, pencils, random supplies, etc,). Do you have a locker you can leave stuff in between classes so you don't have to lug it around all the time?

i had that problem too haha.. what you gotta do, is take out like 30-40% of whats in your backpack and carry them (text books, binders) it will make your load less heavy for your poor back and prevent an ugly hunchback and pain and all that stuff.

you should see your doctor.
but before that, you may want to observe yourself. usually when you have pain in your neck is when you have a headache or your neck bled sometime before.
if your backpack's too heavy, dont make it so heavy! it was reported on a magazine that heavy backpacks can ruin your spine or nec or shoulders or something.
i am not a doctor by the way
anyways
maybe if you cannot get to the doctor right this instant you should get an ice pack (or a plastic bag filled with ice) and hold it on your neck for a while

I hope you are wearing it over both shoulders. Wearing a backpack over one shoulder is asking for trouble.
Lighten the load if you can, get a roller backpack

Are you wearing the straps on both shoulders? I would talk to a teacher that you think might understand and maybe something can be done. This has been a sore spot with me for years. My children had heavy backpacks and it was "in" to wear them on one shoulder! My daughter could barely drag hers around.
Maybe if a group of students went to the principal and stated calmly-no demanding-that this is a big problem for everyone that might help.
Good luck.

Put stuff in your locker or somewhere, or carry some of it in your arms to take some of the strain off your back. And there's always the option of a roller backpack :p

i say you talk to a parent or guardian and have them bring up at school meetings to state that if a child is going to risk having back/neck problems for the rest of their lives b/c teachers are being obnoxious, then they have to intervene. we had lockers when i was in school years ago and i've heard a lot of schools getting rid of them. however, the older you get and the further along you get, the books get bigger and heavier. if you don't have a parent or guardian willing to do it, call your local school board office and make a complaint. also, start a petition within the students in the school. get around 200 signatures and bring to the school board and demand something be done. dont let the fact that you're young and in middle school make you afraid to make a stand over something like this. as long as you handle it maturely and professionally, there's nothing wrong with trying. you'll never know what the result will be if you don't give a shot.
