Should i see surgeon?
here's my question. i have a mass upper right part of abdomen. seen my doctor, he said it was not a hernia. then he ordered a ct scan. that came back showing nothing. now my dr wants me to see a surgeon. said it could still be a hernia. i should also mention, no pain, ever, associated with this. when i lie down, it goes away. i would think anything serious would have shown up on the ct scan. so should i still see the surgeon, or is it nothing to worry about? why wouldn't a hernia have shown up on ct scan?

See the surgeon!!! Do everything you can to make sure it's nothing to worry about and they I would say don't worry about it..smiles. I does sound like a hernia!!!

I have had 5 hernia,s would you believe? it does go away when you lie down if it is a hernia.Sometimes they have no pain.A ct scan does not always show them,but a surgeon can just have you do a few gestures and know right away if it is a hernia.You really should see a surgeon because a hernia is weird they can hide but the danger is if it should come out and the tissue around the hernia closes off then it can sit up gangrene,and thats serious.Just set up an appt with a surgeon,and meanwhile don,t be picking up anything heavy and don,t strain your self and you will be fine until you see your surgeon.The upper abdomen is a very common place to have one,I had one there also.Surgery is fairly easy and don,t take to long to get well.I need to give you a word of caution though,if it is a hernia ,your tissues may be soft and you are apt to have another one IF you don,t quit picking up heavy objects........Good Luck and don,t worry

You should see the surgeon. You might need an MRI with contrast to see what it is. Just remember.....any mass in your body is not supposed to be there. No matter what it is, it needs to be removed eventually.
