Heart question?
Here's the thing. I'm 18 and healthy. Except my heart rate is high, 105-110 (on a good day). I used to have chest pain that would come and go. Now, the pain is the same, but different....
Here's the thing.
I'm 18 and healthy. Except my heart rate is high, 105-110 (on a good day). I used to have chest pain that would come and go. Now, the pain is the same, but different. It used to just be chest pain, but now it's short, really sharp pains shooting from my chest to my left hand. I used to be full of energy and slept good and everything. And now, I'm always tired and run down, but I can't sleep. I live in a two story house and just going up the steps makes my heart feel like its going to beat right out of my chest. While I go up them it slows down so much and so fast that I almost passout, then when I get to the top of the steps it beats so hard and so fast that I basically lose my breath.
I have a history of heart problems in my family. My grandma, mom, and older sister all had to wear heart monitors. And my, very healthy, cousin died of a heart attack when he was 25.
Additional Details
The last time I went to the Dr, she said that everything was fine and that I had nothing to worry about, and that when my heart gets "offbeat" with my body to "grunt" like the Hulk, to reset it. I've tried grunting and it only makes it worse and gives me a terrible headache. After she told me about the grunting method she said she might have to put a heart monitor on me for a few days to see whats going on. Any advise would be helpful. I plan on going to back to the dr, just right now.. I can't afford to. And please, if you have rude comments keep them to yourself. I'm here for help...

With a family history of heart problems and you having these symptoms at a young age, your doctor should be doing more. You need more tests and probably need to be referred to a cardiologist who specializes in heart problems. I'd ask my doctor for a referral and if they say no, it's time to find a new doctor. No chances should be taken when it comes to your health and only you know how you feel. GOOD LUCK!!!! |

I'm sorry to hear about your family history with heart conditions. It's very terrible having to walk up your own set of stairs and running out of air. There is a website, it's known by the name of Healthy Families, and they are a low cost medical provider, etc., which can help you find affordable doctors for you. I think you should really see a Dr., possibly a Cardiologist, explain your condition and get a "heart scan" ASAP, to see if there is any heart damage you should know about. But there are also many conditions which can be causing you to feel this way. Mayoclinic.com has a list of all types of chest pains. You may only have a pulled muscle, which is not contracting or adjusted well, and causing the heart to offbeat. I know you'll be okay. |
