Weak and Tired after Eating?
About an hour after I eat i get very weak and tired and i cant sit up and have to go lay down. I get very thirsty also and have to go pee alot. In the past I have had problems with very low Blood sugar and the doctor told me that I might become a diabetic, Back in Dec of 2006 I had a A1C test done and the test was normal . I have a feeling that my blood sugar is going too high by being weak and tired, the thirst and peeing alot.

Below is an article that may help. "But fatigue can also be a sign of diabetes. Let's just say you're as stress-free as you can be, not on any medication, getting regular exercise, and you're pretty sure you're not pregnant - yet you still find yourself nodding off frequently and dragging through your day. If this fatigue is combined with any of the other classic symptoms of diabetes - including excessive thirst, frequent urination, unexplained weight loss even with an increased appetite, blurred vision, irritability, or skin problems - you need to schedule a diabetes screening test with your doctor."

You are describing some of the symptoms of diabetes. You need more than an HGbA1C to diagnose diabetes, however. Please discuss a glucose tolerance test with your physician. Read about this test at http://www.umm.edu/ency/article/003466.htm. Diabetes will not just affect your blood sugar; it will affect your entire body, from your eyes to your toes. Please take care of yourself.

too high of a sugar intake can eventually lead you to tiredness and other things.

^Go to your doctor and have another A1C test, if it is normal, and nothing else is wrong, ask your doctor about wearing a continuous glucose monitor, your doctor will have you wear it for at least 3 days, it will take your glucose periodically though out the day and night, keep a log of what you eat and what time you eat, this can give you a better idea of what going on, if you exercise write that down also. Good luck, I hope you feel better soon.

You might be on the right track with the diabetes thing. But the person who told you to keep a journal has a good idea. You never know, maybe your eating something like pizza with a lot of salt in it. That would make you drink a lot of water and pee a lot.
Some foods like milk, turkey, etc have a lot of tryptophan which would make you sleepy. I am the same way after my afternoon meal so maybe I'll keep a journal too.

You are right in your suspicion. You are indeed suffering the effects of Hyperglcemia . Definition: Hyperglycemia (high blood sugar) is a condition that happens when there is too much glucose circulating in the blood. In a person without diabetes, insulin produced by the body lowers blood glucose levels.

Hyperglycemia occurs in diabetes because either the body doesn't produce any insulin (type 1) or the insulin that is produced is ineffective (type 2).

Other signs of hyperglycemia include increased thirst, increased urination and/or increased hunger. Also blurred vision, fatigue, weight loss, poor wound healing, dry mouth and dry or itchy skin can accompany long-term hyperglycemia.

Also Known As: High blood sugar
Examples: Blood glucose levels of over 240 mg/dl can sometimes cause the body to release ketones into the blood. such as DKA( diabetic-Ketoacidosis).

Start a journal and write down what you eat, the time and how you feel afterwords. Too many carbs can make you bottom out. Low or high blood sugars have the same symptoms. Go back to Dr. with journal and discuss. Good luck
