if he chewed parsley few times a day that will help alot. also watch what he eats. after the two combined well definitely take affect. good luck!

formenow
An old remedy is to eat parsley, and I also recommend yogurt, plain, it will kill some of the bad odor bacteria in his digestive track.
Drinking water also keeps all the track moist.

If he has already seen the dentist it may be time for him to go see the doctor.

Katie
Maybe he ate some foods that make the odor you smell.
When you are shopping with him at a drug store like CVS or Walgreens, suggest to buy a new mouth wash or toothpaste.
Also, pick up some mints on the way to the cashier.
Gum makes you smell worse than mints.
Mints are much better.

My little brother used to have really bad breath... the doctor told him to swish Listerine in his mouth after every meal.

Heres some info I got from a website:

So first let’s attack the mouth. If you teeth, gums or tongue are not clean and healthy, it will cause bad breath. Gargling with a good and strong mouthwash regularly should help prevent this form of bad breath. Also it is very important to clean your tongue right to the back with a tongue-cleaner as this can get rid of the discharge accumulated from the postnasal drip that starts to smell after a while. Flossing is yet another way of maintaining healthy gums and teeth and enjoying an odor free breath.

If bad breath is emanating through the nose as well, then it is clearly a case of sinusitis or some form of bacterial infection. People suffering from this should contact an ENT specialist to seek the right kind of treatment for getting rid of the problem.

Chewing gum and drinking lots of water can help in combating odor caused by having a dry mouth, which is caused by stress, or some forms of medication that you are taking.

There are also some common herbs and remedies that you can try as a solution for your breath problem. Eating fresh parsley has been found very effective especially for odors associated with the intake of onions and garlic. Similarly, herbs like Sage and Thyme are helpful in minimizing bad breath caused due to throat infections, sinusitis and gingivitis. Eating a clove can overpower the smell of rotting food, which remains in the mouth after a meal. Cardamom has a nice flavor and is used as a breath-freshener. Chewing on a few of these seeds after meals and in-between can help reduce bad breath.

You can also try drinking lemon juice with salt and sugar added or even tea boiled with fenugreek seeds. And finally, eating a health diet rich is Vitamin C, Calcium and B-complex can definitely reduce the intensity of your bad breath.

Does he smoke?? I would just suggest lots of gum...and to use mouthwash on a regular basis.

I suggest an ear nose and throat Dr. or maybe a regular Dr.
this could be from bad sinus drainage or other.
Does he hack up anything that could be from drainage or stomach problems?

Shove a handful of Eclipse Mints into his mouth. That stuff's powerful!

Tic-Tacs.

If that doesn't work then buy an over-sived novelty clothes peg and put it on your nose.

It depends on when he went to the dentist last...he probably has halitosis/Bad breath can also be caused by dry mouth (xerostomia), which occurs when the flow of saliva decreases. Saliva is necessary to cleanse the mouth and remove particles that may cause odor. Dry mouth may be caused by various medications, salivary gland problems or continuously breathing through the mouth. If you suffer from dry mouth, your dentist may prescribe anartificial saliva, or suggest using sugarless candy and increasing your fluid intake.

Tobacco products cause bad breath. If you use tobacco, ask your dentist for tips on kicking the habit.

Bad breath may be the sign of a medical disorder, such as a local infection in the respiratory tract, chronic sinusitis, postnasal drip, chronic bronchitis, diabetes, gastrointestinal disturbance, liver or kidney ailment. If your dentist determines that your mouth is healthy, you may be referred to your family doctor or a specialist to determine the cause of bad breath.

Maintaining good oral health is essential to reducing bad breath. Schedule regular dental visits for a professional cleaning and checkup. If you think you have constant bad breath, keep a log of the foods you eat and make a list of medications you take. Some medications may play a role in creating mouth odors. Let your dentist know if you've had any surgery or illness since your last appointment.

Brush twice a day with fluoride toothpaste to remove food debris and plaque. Brush your tongue, too. Once a day, use floss or an interdental cleaner to clean between teeth.

Mouthwashes are generally cosmetic and do not have a long-lasting effect on bad breath. If you must constantly use a breath freshener to hide unpleasant mouth odor, see your dentist. If you need extra help in controlling plaque, your dentist may recommend using a special antimicrobial mouth rinse. A fluoride mouth rinse, used along with brushing and flossing, can help prevent tooth decay.

Does he floss and scrape his tongue? We had that problem too and between flossing and tongue scraping with a scraper made for that, and mouthwash, things improved a lot. Now I will kiss him again. Oh yeah, he can't eat garlic!

Curious-This is bugging me!!

It might be his diet, try looking at what he's eating.
Not just smelly food bu also an imbalance in your diet can give you bad breath. (the atkin's diet is supposed to make your breth pong!)

For me, I gargle with Listerine at night and in the morning to kill off the bacteria. He could also use Listerine during the day and brush his teeth after lunch.

Breath mints and chewing gum might help also.

Hope this helps!
