Your doctor would inform you of what the game plan is. Only they can tell you because only they know what it is that you have (or not have).

No more biopsies, surgical removal of cancer. I have been cancer free for many years now. I am a survivor.

Did you mean after pap smear or biopsy?...sometimes Papsmear can be wrong. So if it shows abnormal cells it should be followed by a colposcopy(visual examination of the area) and biopsy. But once cancer is confirmed by biopsy, then treatment is the next step.
If it is restricted to one place and is easily removable, then an excision biopsy could remove the whole tumor. If not then surgery, radiotherapy would be considered, depending on what kind of cancer it is ,how far it has spread etc.

if it is cancerous then they would schedule surgery to remove the tumor, and then possible follow up with chemo

When my breast cancer was confirmed I was sent for several other scans and then to an Oncologist. With some of the tests they want to make sure you are not pregnant.
Hope that helps.

If your biopsy shows cancer you would be scheduled for surgery and referred to a specials who deals with this type of cancer.

After biopsy is analyzed in the lab, confirming cancer, I think more tests are done to confirm the location and extent of the tumor. FYI tumors can enter lymphatics and move all over the body.

For example, a wman has ovarian cancer, cancer cells can spread through veins connecting the spine to the ovary and cause another (secondary tumor) in the spine, which is only seen as normal back pain.

Another example, a woman has breast cancer, the cancer cells can spread to the lymphatics on the arm it is closest to and block it, causing oedema.

The older the tumor the more likely it has migrated.

If the tumor has progressed for a long time, they would send you for chemotherapy and radiotherapy, and if the tumor was big enough, surgical removal of the tumor.

If the cancer is relatively young, it can be treated with drugs only.
