hemangioma. It is a group of blood capillaries that generally appear raised on the skin. They can also affect internal organs. Newborn babies do not come into the world with these;but after a few days or weeks they appear. A lot of people think they are birthmarks. I actually always thought they were strawberry birthmarks. Over time they begin to dissipate. It can take several years for them to totally disappear. Doctors say it would be a greater risk to try remove them than to let time take care of them.
