Dr. found hi risk HPV 4 mos. ago. This was 1st pap in 7 yrs. I've no insuranc. I'm miserable when will I die?
There were about 20 strains of hpv found, including 16 and 18. They did a colposcopy but couldn't see anything so now they want to do an operation to remove most of the cervix, but with no insurance I can't do it. Don't qualify for public aid. How long can you leave cervical cancer alone before it kills you?

While I don't have that much information on cervical cancer specifically, I can tell you that getting all freaked out tends to make things worse. So learn to maintain your cool.

Some things that contribute to disease include fear and negative ways. Negative ways include getting angry, being mean, revenge, putting people down, hating and punishing people. Learn to work things out with people and generally use positive approaches to solving problems. This will help your health.

Be fearless. Don't bury your problems. Work things out.

You may want to get a second opinion. You say there is no cancer and yet they are ready to remove your cervix? Could be a bad idea. There is an expression "knife happy surgeon." While what they are saying might make some sense, be careful about believing it. I got surgery once that later seemed possibly the wrong move.

Youre saying you dont have insurance?
It just depends on how bad the cancer is.

Its really sad that this is such a problem for you to pay for this...
You should look for someone to possibly help you... that would be horrible to let go and every person deserves a chance.

Either way, I wish you the best of luck.....
Seriously look into some insurance plans or someone who can help, and get this done!

Discuss this with your doctor. He may be able to help you find a place that will finance the operation.

I had the somewhat the same problem about 3 yrs ago now. I had to have surgery to remove a part of the cervix (a cone biopsy), I did not have cancer I was one step from it (it was not HPV). They discovered these cells by doing the PAP test.
1. find yourself more information about your specific situation.
2.find out what your options and time limitations are from your doctor (OB-GYN).
3. health benefits usually don't take affect "right away"
4. if the only way to live cancer free is to have this operation, then find resources in your area with referrals etc. get it covered.
5. Best wishes, I know how shocking this can be, breathe deep, and get on the move!!!

Get another option ASAP. This does not seem right. If left untreated HPV will cause Cervical Cancer. How did they not see anything with the colposcopy? That is impossible. The only way they know if it is strand 16 and 18 is if they see anything and take a sample of it. Is this a bogus question? They should not be removing any of your cervix unless you have been diagnoised with Cervical Cancer.

There are options available for you... First of all where do you live? I live in ILL. My friend went through the same thing. She found a free hospital to take care of it. If I where u I think I would stop thinking about when Im gonna die and start thinking about what your gonna do about it. Maybe get a job that offers Health Insurance. Talk to a doctor. Learn about state funded help!!! ASAP

You do not have cervical cancer, just HPV.

The earliest stages of cervical cancer usually progress slowly (compared to say lung cancer) over a period of years. Also the changes are also easy to observe and track - if you see a Dr several times yearly. Rather than panicking, what you need to be doing is getting a job with insurance benefits so you can take care of your health properly. I know getting insurance can be tough right now so good luck with doing this and remember to vote for whomever you think will best help make changes in getting women proper health care.

Make sure and read the fifth paragraph about progression of cervical cancer.

http://www.healthsquare.com/fgwh/wh1ch38.htm

Also, if you smoke, then quit now, as this raises your chances of developing cervical cancer. good luck
