WEED! 10's of millions of Americans can't be wrong.

I also encourage the use of Bach Flower Remedies. Also, tea (especially chamomile) is famous for its nerve-soothing, stress-relieving and calming effects.

A hot bubble bath, a glass of wine, and some music, time to yourself... good luck oh yeah... and candles....

Body massage.( Indian Method )

Every one of us has to find the best way to relax. And what works for one person won't necessarily work for the next person. In fact what works for 100 people won't necessarily work for the next person.

Generally, the standard starting point is meditation, but it simply doesn't work for everyone. (Don't start screaming at me about this one. No one who teaches meditation, including the most experienced Buddhist rashis, will ever claim that everyone can learn to meditate.) Keep working on finding your own way.

Pills should be a last resort solution and not the first step. And even when they are used, they can take time to become effective - weeks and not a few hours.

Swedish massage. It is the number one way to help calm your body. It feels great and the therapist can help you with some self care exercises to cope with day to day stress.

Also meditation, diaphragmatic breathing, and exercise help relax the mind, body and soul.

The website below can give you some info and help you find a qualified therapist in your area.

At a stressful time in my life, I found that biofeedback sessions and double the normal dose of B-Complex helped most.

Hang in there! One other thing - you'll get great survival tips from people who want to stay where you are. If you don't see yourself living like this in 20, 30, 40 years from now, don't spend too much time with them learning how they endure it. Mix with people who get more out of life!

Not knowing you personally, I can't be sure exactly what would work for you, but Rx drugs are certainly not the answer; they come with their own set of problems now and down the road. I personally find the following relaxing: a hike in the woods, listening to soothing music, walking in general, and lots of exercise. "Bedtime" tea (by Yogi) is soothing and very relaxing, as is chamomile, valerian root, and kava kava. Tai chi is excellent as well. Good luck.

well I sure do understand where you are! First off, go get something called "rescue remedy" bach flowers at a natural foods store. Put a dropperful in your water bottle and drink it all day--it really helps.

There is a breathing technique in qi gong that focuses your attention out of your head and to the space just below your belly button. Just focus there, don't try to breathe any particular way and then start to let your mind and body relax and keep focus on that area. It's a great way to bring you out of the chaotic time and give your mind and heart some space. I wish you well--you are not alone going through this stuff!!

Look in to yoga it can be a stress reliever or maybe just take a hike in the hills and when your by your self SSSCREAMMM maybe that will work Good Luck LIFE IS WHAT YOU MAKE SO MAKE IT FUN :)

I have found that as cheesy as it sounds, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Steven Covey has given me lots of tools to fight stress. A lot of stress reduction is how your brain is reacting to things. If you can let go of some of the things that are out of your control, then it is easier to relax.

Your next step is to carve out some time just for you. If you have a small child, do it while they are taking a nap or sign them up for a short craft class or alternate with another mom. It could just be a few hours a week or even better an hour each day. Find something that is rewarding - better if it isn't instantly rewarding - like gardening or yoga - to do with that time. Make sure it is something that gives you alone time (head/thinking time) and that you don't feel pressured to do. Slowly increase the amount that you exercise and make sure that you get enough sleep each night. Take the time to eat better. These things will give you the strength to get through each day and give you something to look forward to.
