My daughter is 17 months old and she has an ear infection and I cant get her meds until tomorrow. Is there anything that i can do to try and help her. I have also been alternating Motrin and Tylenol every 4 to 6 hours. I heard that i could put some alcohol on a cotton ball and put that in her ear. Im not sure if she is too young for that or what.
Any help would be great. Thank you

Poor baby. That's the worst when they're that young. Mine is 19 months. I have used these drops from Safeway, they are homeopathic, the pharmacist recommended them. I can't remember the brand but I think the same company makes teething tablets too. Hope she feels better soon! |

If you can find someone that sells Nature's Sunshine herbs, get CBG. It is a liquid. You put three drops in the ear. Usually the pain is gone in ten minutes. It has saved me lots of doctor bills. Put the drops in the ear and have her lay with that ear up for ten minutes. Then put a cotton ball in the ear. To keep her still for ten minutes, you could try holding her and reading her a story. |

Blow smoke in her ear preferably pipe tobacco smoke and seal with cotton ball. Don't go off the deep end, my great grandfather always cured my earache doing this. Parents spent lots of money on "cures" from the dr. for drops etc which never worked! |

Some people say blowing a hair dryer into the ear canal.. NOT DIRECTING INTO HER HEAD.. but like passing it by her ear and passively going in will dry out the ear canal. Essentially drying out the infection also. It sometimes eases the pain . Putting a heating pad on low can also work since the hair dryer might startle her. |

Here is the best information that I can offer you. The product is PCV7 under the brand name of Prevnar, its a shot that has to be given by your doctor and should help her with her ear infection and prevent ear infections in the future. |

my daughter would always get ear infections and she was only 8 months old, but i use a great remedie that is wonderful, just heat up some olive oil not to hot just warm it, then let it cool make sure not to hot or cold nice and warm enough to handle on skin, dip a cotton ball in it, and squeeze slowly 2 drops in her ear, and she will have no pain it works like wonders |

She probably has otitis MEDIA...meaning middle ear infection, so I don't think the alcohol thing would help. You're doing the right thing by helping her with the pain. Treat any other symptoms she might have...vomiting or anything like that, all children are different. When she sleeps (if she can, poor thing), help her to sleep on the ear that doesn't hurt. That will keep the fluid from putting pressure on the ear drum and may help it to drain. In the meantime, good luck!! |
