no, most of it is feel-good BS. its great for minor aches and pains because it makes people feel better without taking a lot of drugs, but not at all for more serious conditions |

I believe it is important to research both particularly when pondering a specific illness or disease. The path I would choose could be either holistic or conventional or a combination of both. Either way I would pray and depend on my Lord Jesus Christ as my Rock! |

Yes, in many ways it is but in others not. You can't generalize about it. Let us say you have just had an acute MI (heart attack)...what will you do, go to the nearest health food store for ....???? Or if you end up with a blood clot in your leg which can travel to the heart, do you treat with blood thinners in the hospital or try something natural. Holistic therapy is good for minor problems which are not acute and not life threatening. |

absolutely. herbal medicine is more natural, is cheaper, has less side effects (if not none as some are known depending on the dosage) and not always, but usually helps to fix the problem after temporary use. psychiatric drugs are synthetic, very expensive, strong side effects that cause new problems you don't need to deal with and which need another medication for that, most of the time don't help fix problem. they make you dependent if not addicted to it. need to stay on them indefinetly which for some people end up for years and years. |

I am not real sure of holistic therapy but any thing natural yes. I think Holistic, Naturalistic, and Herbalist are great. It is amazing all the wonderful herbs and potions out there that can cure many a problem. I turn to these first unless it was dangerous like Cancer. So both are important. I just feel that regular docs prescribe medication too much. And nowadays look at all the Medications being peddled on TV. We are all getting brainwashed to run to the doctor and ask for the latest drug. For me natural first, drugs last. |

if i get in a car accident i really don't want to have a holistic therapist there to try to stitch me back together again. on the flip side i have had much better luck treating allergies, headaches, insomnia, stress, all kinds of things with non-conventional meds and dietary changes. |

conventional medicine has little to offer if you want to know how to stay well and they only know how to "cure"with powerful drugs. that is ok for acute life threatening conditions. But I would prefer alternative medicine for relief of chronic pain for example instead of dangerous NSAIDs |

Yes absolutely, You may be surprised at what is available. With enough research you can find natural answers to almost any ailment or disease from heart disease and hair loss. The best part though is that you don't need to have the high cost of medical insurance or paying doctor bills. I am a Herbalife Independant Distributor and still haven't learned all the herbal nutrition solutions available from that one company. The competition for nutrition is fierce. Considering the state of our current health system (meaning the high cost of everything) it is no wonder that holistic and alternative health is one of the fastest growing and best funded industries in America today. It is so important in our society today that many health professionals and universities are jumping on the bandwagon. So in short yes in most cases a holistic alternative is better than conventional medicine. However, you should always seek the advice of your doctor when considering any alternative medicines. You should always research thouroughly any methods you might be considering. |

Yes. I have not been to the doctor or have any surgery in years. I consider myself a holistic person, and I am working first on myself to be able to help others later on. Holistic therapy is not only herbs and alternative remedies, but also the most powerful capacity of healing within our bodies, minds, and souls. Just look at how a cut or a broken bone heals without any external intervention. Like you put it in your question: You have to believe. |

For me, yes, definitely. I used to suffer from serious bouts of depression and panic attacks. I was also always generally unwell and never away from the doctor with one ailment or another. Someone recommended reflexology and reiki, and I've never looked back; I am now so much lighter, happier, healthier and never ill. I love reiki so much that I went on to become a Reiki Master Teacher. Conventional medicine only treats the symptoms but won't remove the cause, whereas holistic therapy cleans you out .. mind, body and soul, removing all the negative energy that causes illness in our bodies. http://www.freewebs.com/spiritualhealing |
