Rest and fluids. There aren't many drugs. Just your regular tylenol to help with headache, fever if any, and etc. Also, some sudafed or something to help with the congestion. Other than that, just stay in bed and get some rest until you feel better. |

Hi there ! Common cold is usually a viral infection and there is no cure or treatment for this ! Usually, no medicines are advised...but some people maybe advised symptomatic medicines like "paracetamol for headache", anti allergic tabs for running nose etc etc.." thats all.. majority of genuine doctors dont advise anything... best wishes ! |

Common Cold, bed rest, lots of fluids. There's not much you can do. Depending on your symptoms over the counter cold medicines can help make your symptoms bearable. Drink lots of Water and make sure to eat healthy and it would hurt to take a Vitamin and make a habit out of it. Rest up as much as you can. |

common cold is caused by a type of virus . there is no specific treatment for the same as the virus can exist in around 250 different forms. hence just like all viral disease's the synptoms may extend for two or three days or max 5. but continual cold is not good. also one has to check if you have sinusitis which means you have continual blockage near yur nose and headache with pain near the eyes etc. this might lead to infections and hence a doc has to be consulted. no drugs avlble for common cold instead try fomentation which means steam inhalation. for body ache a single dose of paracetamol may suffice as for watering eyes and sneezing a tablet of levocetrizine once a day is enough though all these tablets are not recommended withut consulting your doc. if you have a cough then you definitely need to consult a doc as this mite lead to infections. |

Well, common cold has not a definite treatment but here are some ways you can help ease cold discomfort : * saltwater drops in the nostrils to relieve nasal congestion (you can buy these - also called saline nose drops - at any pharmacy) * a cool-mist humidifier to increase air moisture * petroleum jelly on the skin under the nose to soothe rawness * hard candy or cough drops to relieve sore throat (for kids older than 3 years) * a warm bath or heating pad to soothe aches and pains * steam from a hot shower to help your child breathe more easily Take a sustained-release first generation antihistamine such as chlorpheniramine, brompheniramine, or clemastine. Also, at the same time, take a nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drug (NSAID) such as ibuprofen or naproxen. Continue with the antihistamine and NSAID treatment every 12 hours until cold symptoms clear (3-7 days). Also call the doctor if you have any of these symptoms: * coughing up a lot of mucus * shortness of breath * unusual lethargy/tiredness * inability to keep food or liquids down or poor fluid intake * increasing headache or facial or throat pain * severely painful sore throat that interferes with swallowing * fever of 103 degrees Fahrenheit (39.3 degrees Celsius) or higher, or a fever of 101 degrees Fahrenheit (38.0 degrees Celsius) or higher that lasts for more than a day * chest or stomach pain * swollen glands (lymph nodes) in the neck |
