Find Other Ways Instead of Cutting Yourself

There are many ways to stop cutting yourself, but this article focuses solely on the specific technique of finding alternatives to cutting.


Steps
  1. Seek help by talking to someone, such as a parent, friend, or even a counselor; there are also hotlines to help you.
  2. Know that cutting does release endorphins that make you feel better, but that it isn't healthy for you.
  3. Try using a rubber band by snapping it on your wrist (don't intentionally bruise yourself with it.) or, try putting an ice cube on your wrist or holding it in your hand for a while
  4. Know that there are other ways around this. Even if it's stepping on hot pavement, it's better than cutting

  • Step away from cutting.
  • You are not alone, but it's time to move on and make better choices.
  • Talk out your problems.
  • Keep a diary. Paper is more patient then people.

  • Don't talk to a person who you know will spread news of you cutting, (if you don't want people knowing).
